Welly Good
Bizarre wellies worn by the Czech Republic team in the Olympic opening ceremony have struck gold - after hundreds of pairs walked out of the shops when they were snapped up by fans.
The boots - modelled here by the country's top hurdler Zuzana Hejnova - became one of the talking points of Friday's ceremony as the entire Czech squad paraded around the Olympic stadium sporting them.
Team sports kit official Vaclav Hrbek has revealed that the boots were intended as a joke about rain-spattered Britain's traditionally soggy summers.
But he said: "The boots have sold out all over London and are doing well at home too. People seem to like the joke."
